What a trooper

Just wanting to brag again about my sweet child. On October 16 her grandmother (my mom) fell, breaking her hip and her arm, just below her shoulder. She had a partial hip replacement on the 18th. She was doing great, then her health took a nosedive and she was in ICU in grave condition. After signing DNR paperwork, she was moved from ICU to a regular floor, where she had a miraculous recovery and she's now in rehab. However, the day after my mom left the ICU, my step-father collapsed and he ended up in ICU. This has gone on and on, with both of them ending up in a nursing home, and then on the day after Thanksgiving, my step-father passed away. This was completely unexpected. I don't think anyone dreamed he was that ill, although I do recall wondering on Thanksgiving night what would happen if he preceded my mom in death.
